Crownhill Court Building
Plymouth City Council purchased the Crownhill Court Office Building in 2018 as a part of a development plan for the city. The building has been secured for the Valuation Office Agency and is 1 of 2 sites in the country for this civil service department.
We were appointed to install a mixture of equipment to serve two office floors, a server room, the canteen and the gym. We proposed LG for the project and delivered in three phrases the 7 VRF Heat Recovery System. Comprising of 102 fan coils, a mixture of cassettes, ducted and wall mount fan coils throughout the two office floors and the lower ground floor canteen.
We also installed a Mechanical Ventilation Heat Recovery system in the gym located on the lower ground floor for efficiency and seven split systems in the Communications room with a lead lag duty rotation arrangement for resilience. All the systems were linked to the LG Smart Controller with open protocol for BMS integration to enhance the efficiency of the building.
Some of the challenges on-site were the external elements, access and egress with a 9-meter high piping route but the project and site were well managed with ample facilities for our team to work safely during the Covid-19 pandemic. In addition our own apprentices benefited from working on this project from start to finish. Learning more in-depth skills and refining their basic knowledge of the installation processes.

But long before anyone is sitting at a desk here, this project is providing opportunity for young people, steady incomes for construction workers and of course the suppliers. Our recovery programmer Resurgam aims to protect existing jobs as well as create new opportunities, so while 2020 has not been an easy year, to see this project doing so well is really heartwarming."
